Brainstorming the future is the experimental format of online collaborative brainstorm session where we can build and share our vision for the future of the [IT] world.

Why?

There is a lot of hype, thrill and, most importantly, anxiety in the air about the future of technology. I don’t want to be afraid of the future. I am sure there are wonderful opportunities ahead, we just have to find them, which is easier to do with other smart people collaborating in real time in the same space (on the same board)

What?

My idea is to have regular biweekly or monthly sessions of about 1.5 – 2 hours, during which we:

  1. Assess the current state of the topic we have chosen, preferably before the session. What are the tools, what are the usual pains with the technology used, etc.
  2. Ideate over the immediate future
  3. Summarize
  4. Think several steps beyond

Let’s go beyond pure tech in our ideas. For example, the moment when majority of service agents, online teachers, truck and taxi drivers will lose their jobs to AI is almost imminent. What does it mean socially? And what sort of tech is going to help to solve this new problem? Is there any research already made on this? How can we benefit from the change? These are the questions I’d like to have answers to.

Again, there is no guarantee that consultants, developers and architects are not going the same way eventually. What do we do, what are the new professions that any new tech usually creates? How is it going to shape our own life?

Where?

As a big fan of visual collaboration and of being literally on the same page, I propose using Miro. This way, we can make the whole community flex their brains together.

You can participate as a spectator/commentator if you have a public link that I will share on my LinkedIn page and in the invitation.

To do more than commenting, you will most probably need a Miro account, as this is the tool I use for collaboration.
