Business users do not care that much about how the backend works, but for technical people it is indeed a long awaited change.
It is now possible to add newly created fields directly to the lightning pages, which makes classic page layouts [almost] obsolete. Those countless clicks and frustration about forgetting to adjust page layouts is no more. Congrats to admins!
